Dear Sir or Madam,
The First Job Audition
held in December 2000 as a
part of the Monaco Dance
Forum, was successful
in its endeavour to help young
non-professional dancers acquire
their first contract and come
into direct contact qith many
Company Directors. Over 30
Directors (or their representatives)
from classical and contemporary
companies were present and
nearly 80 dancers selected
from all over the world. The
dancers had the unicque opportunity
to audition for these Directors
in one venue. All expenses
paid.
This prominent event was
made possible thanks to the
generous support of the Princess
Grace Foundation who covered
the travelling and accomodation
expenses of the selected candidates
to Monaco. The Foundation
also awarded the 20 dancers
most requested a bursary to
audition privately in the
companies that invited them.
Over half of the candidates
that participated in the Audition
signed their first contract
in the year following the
event.
The second First Job Audition
will be held during the next
Monaco Dance Forum from 10th
- 14th December 2002 at the
Grimaldi Forum.

It is an amazing opportunity
for any dancer to be selected
and, above all, a memorable
occasion to participate in
such a major event.
The chosen candidates will
be offered their travelling
and accomodation expenses
to Monaco and will also be
invited to the prestigious
Nijinsky Awards, Gala.
If you wish to receive any
further information concerning
the Monaco Dance Forum, please
le us know and we shall be
more happy to send it to you.
Principles
The Audition is aimed a pre-professional
dancers with classical and
contemporary training searching
for their first full time
contract. The audition will
consist of one classical ballet
class and a contemporary workshop
with an invited coreographer.
The audition offers the 100
dancers selected from around
the world a unique opportunity
to encounter many company
directors or their representatives
in one venue. There is no
jury. Each Director is free
to evaluate any dancer that
may correspond to his company
and style.
Costs
The Pricess Grace Foundation
is offering travelling and
accomodation expenses to all
the successful applicants
chosen to participate in the
First Job Audition.
In the event of candidates
being offered a number of
potential contracts, the Princess
Grace Foundation will award
a bursary to the twenty most
sought-after dancers, aimed
at subsiding the travel costs
they may need to incur. All
selected applicants will also
receive one year's membership
to the Association Européenne
Avant Scene. The Association
ill assist them in their search
for employment during that
year.
